What happened

NHTSA opened a preliminary investigation in October 2025 after a Waymo vehicle in Georgia failed to stop for a school bus with flashing lights/stop arm deployed; Austin ISD documented roughly 20 similar incidents in one school year. Waymo issued a software recall of 3,067 vehicles in December 2025.
