Skydweller's unmanned solar-powered aircraft (a converted Solar Impulse 2 airframe), being developed for long-endurance maritime/industrial surveillance, crashed and was destroyed during test operations over the Gulf of Mexico after losing power; Aviation Week later attributed the crash to turbulent weather. Company said the program continues despite loss of the prototype.
